The great ministry and even greater brothers at Christ Communicators Worldwide has announced the future release of what I believe to be a very proactive and critical issue. Marriage and Divorce. There are many reasons why, this is important, the primary one is what does Jesus say of remarriage and divorce! One of the biggest issues facing the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ is divorce. So bad is that a movie “Fireproof” had to be made. Well if you want to Fireproof your marriage I think this book may just help you do that! Here is what CCW is saying:
Divorce and Remarriage: A Permanence ViewWe expect to have this book back from the printer/binder by the first week or so in December. Releasing a book on divorce and remarriage in the holiday season is not going to work, so we will not mail the book until around January 1. This means that we can offer a pre-publication price up until January 15, 2009. This $16 book will sell for just $11 until that time. Free shipping in the US/Can. For overseas orders, write for S/H costs.

Thanks for posting this Lionel! I am very excited from just checking out the preface and table of contents. I spent probably 100+ hours studying the betrothal view a few years back for an academic project with my seminary dean and the most frustrating part was the lack of accessible resources. There were so many misconceptions about the view, but I couldn’t really point anyone to one particular publication to read about it because there wasn’t anything there (outside of Piper’s online resources which were good but very brief). regardless of what anyone believes on the subject, this looks like a great resource to wrestle with on a very difficult topic. Can’t wait to get a copy!
I’m going to order a copy!!! Yeap a VERY important topic at the moment.
Hey Billy,
What was your findings? Just curious. By the way your welcome.
Mark R,
Hey brother we are up around 51%
It was an intriguing studying to say the least. In the end I couldn’t escape the conclusion that the majority positions held by most protestants today hide behind a veil of scholarship but don’t really do much justice to scripture. The betrothal view really was the only view IMO that accounted for all the information we have. It makes sense with all the linguistic, cultural, contextual, and theological considerations. I still have not heard an objection to the view that holds much water. Frankly, the only difficulty I see is from an implementation standpoint in today’s society. But sadly enough, divorce and remarriage is not the only scriptural teaching that faces that difficulty.
I have read it about 4 times now. And it is definately Biblical. What Christ said about this issue in the scriptures harmonizes wonderfully with what Paul says in his letters. It is just a hard stance to take, but Biblical-that is for sure. Enjoy the read guys.
Les McFall has an interesting way to deal with the exception clause in Matthew 19:9. He has written a 43 page paper that reviews the changes in the Greek made by Erasmus that effect the way Matthew 19:9 has been translated. I reviewed McFall’s paper at Except For Fornication Clause of Matthew 19:9. I would love to hear some feedback on this position.
I look forward to reading a copy. Can someone tell me if the content is similar to some of the ebooks at http://www.wisereaction.org ? Especially the articles written by Les McFall?
Regards
Michael
