I seem to remember some very similar arguments in my day about Christian rock. I was such a rebel. I had long hair and listened to Christian rock turned up too loud.
If kids today need a good message in their music surely we can convince them to listen to Southern Gospel, right?
Although, no one was ever successful in getting me to stop listening to rock music.
Lionel,
I’m curious to know if this was serious or sarcasm? It didn’t seem like you were being series.
Hey brother Donald,
It was actually both. So I guess you can call it more satire. The last paragraphs will show you my true heart.
Ok well my first question is ARE YOU A CHRISTIAN? I know I am, I don’t appreciate your comments one bit, I happen to be a Christian rapper and THE LORD uses my style of music to draw people to the lord, and bring them back from backsliding I am living testament to that, I think your opinion is false, entirely prejudice & offensive, If the Lord is glorified and not the artist THEN AMEN, that’s WHY AM A CHRISTIAN RAPPER: TO GLORIFY THE LORD, there is no reason why you should have anything against that, your comments and opinions just offend people, and stir up conflict, which is in conflict with your beliefs by the way.
Good Evening,
For those who are fans of Christian Hip Hop or even if you are not I invite you to take a look at this post. http://www.cep31974.wordpress.com/2008/08/03/we-worship-you/ Hopefully I can do this on a regular basis.
Mark did you even read the post bro?
Ha Ha! I think Mark just read the “title” as I initially did.
Good post. Our Sunday Morning Bible groups can teach theology to kids for an hour because we intorduce some of it by using the exciting beats/lyrics of holy hip hop.
I wanted people to google it so they can say “yeah, yeah, wait a minute….” LOL
It was so funny I had to ask. Oh, here’s one it’s too single cultured. For lack of a better term, who’s the Slim Shady of Holy Hip Hop?
Maybe I should have said 3rd Base or Beastie Boys of HHH? But I’m sure you feel me though.
Oh, I’m sorry I typed series, and meant serious.
Donald.
If you go to http://www.lampmode.com Holy Hip Hop has Timothy Brindle
Thanks man. I’m just enjoying the blog-o-sphere. And I don’t mean no harm. Although, I’m not really a fan per’se I appreciate the efforts of those that are striving to be biblical with their lyrics.
To all my Holy Hip Hop community, much love.
haha, when i first saw the title of this and Lecrae’s picture, I thought oh man, Lecrae must get a lot of attacks as a Christian rap artist.
I met Lecrae and my boss got to hang out with him for awhile, this guy blew me away, he LOVES the Lord.
I’m so glad that we have Christian rap, its so much easier to reach lost when you have awesome music to go along with it, my friends laughed at me when I stopped listening to secular music because all I knew about at the time was old church music stuff and they didn’t understand why I would want to listen to that. Then I started searching for other stuff, when I heard about “christian rap” I actually thought it was funny because I used to listen to rap and I never thought any christian rap could be as good as secular. I was wrong! I have had the chance to use Lecrae’s music as a witnessing tool to some girls in my church’s youth group that think christianity is lame, I got to show them that you don’t have to listen to music full of sex, money, and drugs blahdy blah, and they loved it!
Way to go guys, keep it up! sorry I talked so much!
Bobbie,
You have to pick up
Trip Lee 20/20
Flame: Our World Redeemed
JSon: Life on Life (my 2 year old knows most of the songs and makes my wife play it all day! LOL)
Pretty good brothers. I have had an opportunity to meet Flame, Trip and Lecrae in the past and they are pretty good fellas. Very humble men.
Actually, the reason why a lot of Christians are turned off to Christian rap is because there is so little difference between Christian rappers and secular. Christian rappers like T-bone or the Gospel Gangstaz still use the N-word and I thought we were supposed to move away from unloving language. It makes it hard to separate those secular rappers who use similar language and then thank God in acknowledgments section of the lyrics.
I only listen to.

Listen Please,
All of us that loved secular hip hop and that now love Christian rap music, should understand that hip hop is not just a form of music, not just a culture or movement, but a registered religion with tenants of faith. Go back to Africa Bambata who along with KRS-One formed hip hop in the late 1970’s and coined the pharase based on beliefs of Egyptology, the Zulu nation and the belief that Jesus is the white man’s God and that the Black man is God. (look into the 5% nation and who in hip hop belong to it) go to http://www.exministries.com and gain knowledge about hip hop.
They formed hip hop to empower black youth, which is a well intentioned motive however, (The bible says deceiving and being deceived) sometimes we just don’t know what we are doing however well intentioned
Saying holy hip hop is no different then saying holy budism or holy islam. Christian rap is different than Christian hip hop, although satan’s comprehmise and the lack of distinction from the world exist in both. (saggy pants, using the N word in lyrics, bling and the rest. We come as we are to Christ but once we get there, “If any man be in Christ he is a new creature or creation, the old is passed away and behold ALL things become new”.
We don’t need to comprehmise the Gospel to win or influence the youth. Jesus said “If I be lifted up I will draw ALL men unto me”
Remember that Satan was the minister of music in heaven before his fall, also he was the most subltle beast of the field and that he is the author of lies. He always begins with “doth God say” causing doubt about God’s standard and calling for just a little comprehmise and then a full commitment.
In all of our getting lets get understanding.

Hey JD,
Did Satan have a choir? What type of music was it? Souther Gospel, Contemproary like Chris Tomlin, or was it more like Fred Hammond? Did he have an organ, bass guitarist, or a keyboard? I would love to see how they looked? Could he sing? Was it more like the contemporary praise and worship? I wonder how he led the choir? Very mysterious right?
