As I stated before many people disagreed with me as it related to my stance on Generational Curses. The language in the first post wasn’t as heretical as could be so many found a loop hole out of the problem I had with it. Well, well, well! Dr. Evans has taken it to the next obvious step. Read it here so you don’t think that I am fabricating it. Here it is in writing:

JANUARY 9, 2008Reversing the Physical CurseWe have all seen the effects of physical problems – diabetes, heart disease, sleeping disorders and cancer – in our lives or at least in the lives of those we love. We know that these things are not God´s perfect will for our lives. In John 10:10 (NIV), Jesus says, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” Jesus wants us to enjoy a long, healthy life … not just exist.
It´s important to understand that physical problems can be tied to spiritual issues from past generations. These “issues” are called generational curses. The only real solution is to pray and then obey.
Just recognizing the problem and praying about it is not enough. We need to act on what God is telling us to do. Many times, He prompts us to do things that are different and maybe even strange. But it´s not strange to Him. God wants to heal our bodies, but the results depend on our obedience to His voice and His Word.SCRIPTURE READINGS
Numbers 12:10-16
This is a serious problem again. Dr. Evans does not provide a shred of biblical support for such a statement. Listen to me very carefully, this teaching is heretical! It is not deduced from a sound biblical hermeneutic and flys in the face of the New Covenant. CHRISTIANS ARE NOT UNDER ANY CURSE WHATSOEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope that is loud in clear, high blood pressure, just as diabetes can run in the family, but that has nothing to do with a generational curse and the only curse it can be tied to is the one produced at the Fall! Sickness, death, sin and pain are all consequences of Adams sin. As we await the New Paradise and the New Earth where all of these things will be swallowed up, mankind will continue to suffer! But we know as Paul said “His grace is sufficient for me”. You dying from any of the above mentioned may bring God glory, just as your healing from either of these can bring God glory, but as Paul says “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. This is the profession of the mature Christian.
With all that said, this has nothing to do with a “generational curse” unless that genealogy starts with Adam. If you are bound by sickness, make a petition to the Lord for healing, but if He decides not to accept His “perfect will” for your life and glorify Him through it. I know of many Christians who’s testimony is that through major life threatening illnesses that Christ became much more beautiful to them. I have saw parents who children died before the were school age due to cancer or some other disease and Christ was the more beautiful to them. My biggest problem with this is that this flies in the face of God’s sovereignty while simultaneously not having a proper perspective biblical faith! A whole new post will have to be written about that. However, search your scriptures I remember once the disciples questioned Jesus about a blind mans state. They said “who sin, this man or his parents”. Jesus says something that may have been quite shocking:
”3 Jesus answered, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him. ” (John 9:1-6)
Tony Evans has officially fallen off in my book. There is little hope of bringing him back!

All we have to do is accept the dominion over all the earth that God bestowed upon us. We have dominion over the earth and even God is limited in His actions upon the earth without our say so. There is no place in the believers life to be sick nor poor…….
Just thought I’d add to the heresy being promoted by Evans. What exactly will be his next step after this? Where do you go after promoting something like this? So then the logic is that Christ death was not enough? Why is it always “you need Jesus AND…”? “I am the alpha…and almost the omega, just not quite….so for 3 easy payments of $19.95 you can get the rest of your salvation….”?????
Brother Frank my sentiments exactly!!!! This type of teaching opens up the floodgates of unorthodoxy and heresy. I am afraid to see whats next, if it is the same as Dollar and Long this could go from bad to worse.
Dang…..
“We need to act on what God is telling us to do. Many times, He prompts us to do things that are different and maybe even strange. But it´s not strange to Him. God wants to heal our bodies, but the results depend on our obedience to His voice and His Word.”
And on that note, I believe we can now go to war to on the issue….paticularly, on the issue of how bad health problems are the result of “generational curses”, as this chaps my hide regarding the many instances where I’ve had friends/family sick with illnesses and yet they were truly more beautiful in spite of it…….just had a dear leader in our church recently die of cancer, yet she was truly seeking the Lord and was RADIANT before Him…..ANYONE saying it wouldn’t go away due to her having a CURSE over her life, despite how blessed she was, is an issue).

If I may also say reagrding the situation,
Luke 13
Repent or Perish
1Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. 2Jesus answered, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? 3I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. 4Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? 5I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.”
6Then he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree, planted in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it, but did not find any. 7So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, ‘For three years now I’ve been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?’
8″ ‘Sir,’ the man replied, ‘leave it alone for one more year, and I’ll dig around it and fertilize it. 9If it bears fruit next year, fine! If not, then cut it down.’ ”
If I may say, Pilate may’ve killed the Galileans beacuse he thought they were rebelling against Rome…and those killed by the tower of Siolaom may’ve been workiing for the Romans on an aqueduct there. The Pharisees, who were opposed to using force to deal with Rome, would have said that the Galiliens killed by Pilate deserved to die for rebelling….AND THE ZEALOUTS, a group of anti-Roman terrorists, would have said that the aqueduct workers DESERVED TO DIE for cooperating.
However, Jesus (IMHO) dismissed the idea that accidents or human cruelties were God’s judgement on especially BAD SINNERS. Neither the Galileans nor the workers should be blamed for their calamities.
Whether someone is killed in a tragic accident or miraculously survives is not a measure of righteousness. Everyone has to die…and Jesus did not explain the reason why some live & others die tragically, but instead pointed to everyone’s need for repentance….& faith in the Lord
The same thing often happens regarding the issue of “generational curses”…Someone in a Christian family has a bout with CANCER, and the entire family will say it was the result of Sin or involvement in the Occult….procedding to do like Job’s friends and assuming that suffering is the result of some personal/unknown sin and that God isn’t revealing it to them because He expects them to figure it out….and yet they never factor in that perhaps none of that is the case and that it simply happens or that God has a purpose in the midst of it…..
Excellent Post, Brah…..

Does Exodus 20:4-6 and other passages teach generational curses?
No. In Exodus 20:4-6 the subject is idolatry. Regarding those who commit idolatry, we learn that God would visit the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Him. Notice, the text says “generations of those who hate Me.” Therefore, we see that God would punish those who imitate their fathers’ idolatrous actions. In other words, there are sinful patterns that children see in their parents that they often times replicate in their own lives. It is not that God has placed a curse on the people. It is not as if the children are obedient to God but God still punishes them because of their parents’ disobedience. The point is that they are idol worshipers just like their parents were. In fact, verse 6 shows that God shows mercy to those who love Him, irregardless of their parents’ disposition towards God. The contrast that we have in verses 4 and 5 is between those who hate God and those who love Him. The reason for it affecting the third and fourth generations is that the effects of idol worship is that it leads to children becoming accustomed to it, and they often times replicate it in their own lives.
Other passages to consider are listed below.
Deuteronomy 24:16: Moses states that fathers would not be put to death for their children’s sins and children would not be put to death for the fathers’ sins. Notice that he says, “A person shall be put to death for his own sin.” Ezekiel 18: This passage €“ in fact the entire chapter – shows that God never agreed with the false saying of the people: “The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge.” In other words, rather than taking responsibility for their own actions, they attributed their sinful ways to their parents. However, notice that God said that they were to no longer use that proverb in Israel. He went on to say that the soul who sins shall die and that the one who is lawful and right shall live (Ezekiel 18:4-9). Jeremiah 31:27-30: We see the same thing here. Every one dies for his own iniquity. If one “eats the sour grapes, his teeth shall be set on edge.”
I think someone has taken Tony’s body over. Tony Evans has left the building. I can’t believe this guy. What a sad story…
I agree Tyris. I also share the same concerns as Lionel………whats next?
This clearly demonstrates how we must all strive to stay as close to Christ as we can.
I wonder what Tony’s devotional life and prayer life is like. He seems to be straying from the Orthodox. There is always a reason for this and it’s either lack of devotion/prayer.
Very sad indeed.
I recently heard a series he did on assurance of salvation. He used a scripture reference to assure those that are saved are indeed eternally saved. Then he used another scripture to say that if they turn away from God and go back to their sinnin’ ways they can fall from grace (which he said means they could lose their salvation)!!! Where’s the assurance in that? Either we are saved because God pursued us and we believed and repented and therefore are eternally saved (despite any good or bad works we may perform) or we were never saved to begin with. But my understanding of the Word is that those who God has called and elected will be saved by grace through faith. Even if I “backslid” I would still be saved. Tony seems to be implying that we can be assured of our salvation if we perform well which sounds like a works based salvation that totally diminishes God’s role in our salvation. That kind of salvation ain’t salvation, folks!!! And if that’s the kind of salvation you think you have then maybe you should be questioning your assurance!!! I used to listen to Tony a lot and have to give him some credit for teaching me some of the things I know to be true. But, recently I feel that something else is going on and I don’t like it. If he made a mistake then man up and repent!!!
Wow!!!!! That has been a big debate that I have had with many about a believer being cursed. This is a sad commentary when pastors preach this type of trope.
Hold your stance brother i stand with you on this issue.
Once again, GREAT!!! To all of the defenders of the faith remain steadfast, unmoveable and unshakable.
Man I contacted this ministry 10 yrs ago and never received an answer. Their ministry is actually set up only for the selling of his books and tapes/cds.
A problem I see is that I have yet to notice a public rebuke/warning/denouncement from many of his contemporaries.
1. Moody Bible Institute/Moody Publishers – To my knowledge keeps inviting him to events, and hasn’t denounced or recalled the “Totally Saved” book which does teach universalism.
2. John MacArthur – Is personal friends with the dude, dealt with the “transdispensationalism” subject at a Shepherd’s Conference a couple years ago. He could denounce Rick Warren, and name him by name, but won’t (or hasn’t) gone public with Evans.
3. Chuck Swindoll – A lot of this heresy went on under his watch as president of DTS, but not a word about DTS’s first black to graduate with a ThD.
Whatever are differences may be in our theological construct (dispensational/ covenant theology or calvinist/arminian) these men and entities fall under the auspices of orthodoxy and won’t name a name.
I’m certainly not saying they won’t. I’m not saying that they haven’t spoken with him. I don’t know. I know they have a relationship/friendship with the man, and if we see his departure, I know they know about it. I hope I’m wrong but they seem silent on Tony Evans’ issues.
