Here is my second church recommendation. This church is for those living close to the Winston-Salem area here is the link. This church is a Sovereign Grace Church holding to my theological perspective birthed during the Reformation. This is an older group of Elders and I believe Pastor Burrell is bi-vocational. They even have an Institute in which the class was taking through a course on Systematic Theology. SAY WHAT? That is correct. They have an institute in which people graduate from. I have attached a Mid Term Exam for you to examine (hopefully they won’t beat me up). I have dialogue with the Pastor via email and listening to him preach has been a treat. Not only that I really had to examine my heart to “test myself”. Check out the “Hyprocrite” and “Pauls prayer for the Ephesians” sermons. Sovereign Grace gems! God bless and please send an encouraging email.

Very good and “piercing” sermons. Wish we had that kind of preaching here in Maryland. God bless.
My goodnes, what great preaching! Where have these brothers been hiding. I must visit….mw
These fellows at Sovereign Grace Chapel in North Carolina are serious aren’t they? How long have they been at this? When I went to their website I couldn’t believe that they were black. A Bible Institute…WOW! We as black Calvinist can praise our God that there are those who are doing His work in the black community. We must pray for them and encourage them whenever we can.
It looks as though we are making some progress in spiritual things as black people of God. There is very little of it, but we can thank God for what is happening. This is overwhelming to my soul!

Not only are they merely “Black” and doing great things among their own communities, but they are building up the universal body of Christ – not merely out for their own nation and tribe and tongue but are a blessing for Christ’s body as a whole.
They could not merely correct wrongs that are occurring in black theology nowadays, but also the white-bread mono-color masses of shallow evangelicals of our day as well. The Sovereign Grace Chapel has a message that more than just black people need to hear.
Or, for that matter, they could provide a welcome mix to the almost entirely white and largely southern and lower middle class group that makes up most sovereign grace baptists – a great group that could become all the greater with some cross-pollination of ideas.
All groups can easily mistake culture with Christ and common ways of doing things with the Biblical way. For these reasons a multi-national, multi-ethnic and multi-cultural mix of peoples all holding firmly to the Sovereignty of God is a very great blessing indeed and glorifies our global God.
I am as white as they come and never even talked to a black person until I was in 6th grade I think….as white-bread as they come. My wife and I felt more welcome at their church during the year the I lived in Winston-Salem than almost any other church. A great testimony to the strength of their doctrine and the hospitality of their people.
This is very refreshing. I want to encourage the brothers and sisters at Sovereign Grace Chapel to hang in there and continue on…..Carrie
Hey Trevor, that is even more exciting to here. I have talked with Pastor Burrell via email and I plan on calling him today. He has become a role model in the faith.
Sovereign Grace Chapel seem to be doing the do. Lionel thanks for letting us know about them. The next time I am in NC I will try to visit them. They have a Systematic Theology class and an Institute. Man!

After reading the article, I feel that I really need more info. Could you suggest some resources please?
